All AccessNI checks must be fully paid for up front. The current charge for a Volunteer AccessNI check is £8.40 which is including the VAT and administration fee by AccessNI Checks.
A voluntary post that requires a standard or enhanced disclosure will only require the administration fee including VAT to be paid and not the full charge that applies to non-voluntary post.
The position being applied for must be a voluntary post that satisfies the definition of a volunteer by AccessNI (Access Northern Ireland) then the Standard or Enhanced check will be provided free of charge other than the small administration fee and VAT.
Access Northern Ireland (AccessNI) defines a volunteer to be ‘a person who performs any activity for a non-profit organisation or person which involves spending time, unpaid (except for travelling and other approved out-of-pocket expenses), doing something which aims to benefit someone (individuals or groups) other than or in addition to close relatives’.
The exclusions to the above definition are:
where the person is volunteering directly for a statutory organisation
where the person is volunteering for a non-profit organisation in a position which delivers statutory services under contract or in a specific project, for which that organisation has received funding from the government which includes provision covering the costs of disclosures for volunteers
A candidate is NOT eligible for a volunteer check if:
The person engaging in the activity requires payment, in excess of expenses they incur.
Benefits directly themselves (e.g. Students on work experience) or helps them obtain a job or with their career.
